Kona Ice Giveback Fundraisers- a super easy way to raise money for your PTA/PTO or school!
With spring here and summer not far behind I have to admit I am getting really excited about all of the fun outdoor activities and memories we have ahead of us this year for my family and school. One of the big events we look forward to at our school each year is the family picnic. It is such a special time for students, teachers, and families to all enjoy a meal together at school during the day!
One of the things I most love about my Parent Teacher Group (PTG) is that we are always open to changing things around and testing out new ideas! Last year we wanted to twist things up a bit for our family picnic. We wondered what if we could offer something new and unique to our families while also making a little cash for our PTG? That is why we tried Kona Ice!
Have you heard about Kona Ice?
We caught the buzz the year prior to our first event through social media. Through those contacts, we discovered that Kona Ice especially is focused on providing fundraising “Giveback” opportunities to schools and other groups around the community (and nation).
I have to admit, all of those cute Facebook photos of kids, sports teams, and neighborhood groups having Kona Ice visit them had our attention for sure! We were set on giving Kona Ice a try!
Professional and courteous
Of course I can’t speak for every franchise under of the Kona Ice umbrella, but I do I have to tell you that every single contact I have ever had with Kona Ice and the local franchise owner (Kim) has been extremely positive and helpful.
In our PTG there were some concerns regarding if this event was the right fit for our school. There were also worries about what potential problems could arise having Kona Ice present during the school day.
Every single question or concern was met with reassurance and professionalism by Kona Ice! It was a real pleasure to be able to work with such a dynamic and friendly business owner who clearly cares about us and our event!
Common fundraising struggles
If you have been in the PTG game long, you know that setting up fundraisers can be a lengthy and exhausting process. If you are new to this gig, you might be really overwhelmed at all of the options out there. Maybe you are even worried about taking on the responsibility of setting up a fundraiser for your PTG or school in the first place?
Trust me, I get it! We all do. Planning fundraisers can be a stressful and time-consuming task. And the last thing we want is for it to turn out to be a huge flop! That’s why I think you should check out Kona Ice!
Our volunteers want to have fun too!
For many PTG programs or events we have to scrounge up volunteers to work! A huge complaint or concern voiced by our volunteers is that they are not able to enjoy the event with their kids or families because they are too busy working at it. Does that sound familiar?
I know I have shared this same concern over the years as well! It just isn’t fun to put so much time and attention into something special for our schools that all of the other families get to enjoy, but not us.
Well, guess what? That just isn’t so for a Kona Ice event.
Easiest fundraiser – EVER!
Simply put, making arrangements for a Kona Ice Giveback fundraiser goes to the top of the list of the easiest fundraisers our PTG has done to date! One of their slogans is, “show us where to park and who to make the check out to.” Unlike so many other things in life, this one is NOT too good to be true!
What about food allergies?
One of the things I especially like about Kona Ice is that unlike many of the food/restaurant fundraising events that are available for PTGs, Kona Ice is one that my family (one with multiple food allergies) can enjoy as well!
While I can’t speak for every food allergy situation, I do know we have had great success with Kona Ice.
Here is their statement about allergies, “If it’s cold hard nutrition facts you’re looking for, this is the place to go. We’ve got nutrition facts to go with your nutrition facts! With our different product lines, you’ll find all sorts of information below. If you have specific questions, especially about allergies, always be sure to check with your local franchise.” – Kona Ice
Smart Snack Approved
Another bonus with Kona Ice is that it meets the Smart Snack guidelines set in place by the USDA. That means Kona Ice can be sold and served in schools during the school day! Low-cost to families
An extra appealing aspect about Kona Ice is that their products are offered in a variety of prices. I recall that we were given an option of offering a $2.00 cup at our last event. With this option we can be mindful of families who are on a budget.
I know for me personally, I may not always have a lot of cash in my wallet. Let’s face it, as a SAHM I don’t have a salary and paycheck coming in so my wallet is usually pretty bare. I can almost always round-up a few dollars worth of change. If I don’t have cash my kids are all too willing to bust out some of their piggy bank money for a Kona Ice treat!
So many other fundraisers these days end up being big expenses for our families. Spending $40 for a meal at the local burger joint for your school’s PTG night may not be an option.
Families take great pride in being able to participate in these special programs. We are really grateful to Kona Ice for providing low-cost, tasty, and exciting fundraising programs for our schools and PTGS!

We are hooked! After our first experience with them last year, we booked again almost immediately for our next family picnic! Since then, we have approached Kona Ice to plan two other events! We definitely plan to find new ways to incorporate Kona Ice into more events at our school.
