Teacher Appreciation Week…HELP!
Has Teacher/Staff Appreciation Week planning left you feeling unsure about what direction to go in? Are you stuck? Do you often wonder WHAT the teachers/staff at your school even like in the first place? You love chocolate, but do they? Coffee is your love language, but do they prefer tea or Mt. Dew????? You’d like to bake something special, but what about food allergies? Oh my gosh, is Mrs. So-and-so gluten intolerant?
Are you worried that whatever you are planning will be received with little enthusiasm? Will the teachers/staff assume you are one giant dud of a parent? Oh my goodness, please do not go any further. Stop right there! We cannot get worked up about this! Teacher/Staff Appreciation does not have to be this hard or this stressful! Right?
Trust me, NO teacher out there (at least no one normal. lol) would want you or anyone else left feeling completely taxed from this experience. For real, just like almost everything else in life – it’s the thought that counts!
Now, let’s take a step back….take a deep breath (or practice some yoga if necessary), and talk about how you can easily manage Teacher/Staff Appreciation Week this year. Let’s ditch the stress! I don’t need it and you don’t either!
To me, one of the hardest parts about Teacher Appreciation Week is that we are all likely feeling major school burnout by now! I know I am! The funny thing is do you know who also likely feels the same way? Teachers! 🙂
Another common challenge for us all is coming up with meaningful and inexpensive gift ideas that are personally appropriate. What do you do if you don’t really know what your teachers like?
The answer is simple, just ask!
I have created some pretty questionnaires just for you! You can use these to get to know your teachers even better! Knowing more personal details about the teachers in your life makes gift selection a breeze! These simple questionnaires can be given out personally – from a family or student. They can also be distributed to teachers/staff from your PTA/PTO. I have created two versions for you.
Everyone loves to receive extra special attention, right? Your teacher/staff member will truly feel the LOVE because of you taking the time to ask! Please feel free to use my forms. And, seriously…if you’d like them to be personalized even more with different colors or alternative questions, just ask me. I can easily alter it for you! I’m happy to help out!
At the start of each year, just print off a fresh copy of this pretty questionnaire and ask your child’s new teacher/s to complete it then! That way, you will be all set for the ENTIRE year!
Just a note…
You know this post has me thinking back to my teaching days. I still have many of the things that were given to me during my time in the classroom by students & families. Some of the MOST meaningful gifts were (and still are) hand-written notes by my students.
I left teaching just before my first baby was born. At that time I moved back to my home state where my husband had set up his chiropractic clinic. I fondly recall receiving a special note in the mail one day written by a sweet boy who had just finished 9th grade. He had taken the initiative to get my new address from the school and mailed me a beautiful thank-you note for being his teacher. Isn’t that amazing? AWWWWWW!
I have to be honest, I keep all of these special notes (and gifts). They mean the world to me. It’s understandable that when asked, teachers will say over and over that the best gift they could ever receive is a personal note from you or your child!
I love to share!
