Attention Schools and PTGs in and around the Milwaukee, WI area!
- Is your PTG/School near or around an hour’s driving distance from the Milwaukee County Zoo?
- Do you like family-friendly, age-appropriate, and educationally enriching performances being presented at your school?
- Is your PTG like ours, a group that loves FREE resources?
If you answered yes to these questions, have you heard about Kohl’s Wild Theater?
Kohl’s Wild Theater (KWT) is a partnership of The Zoological Society of Milwaukee and Kohl’s Cares (see my other posts/s about other amazing programs being offered by Kohl’s Cares) to provide conservation themed programming/performances to your students at your school (no busing needed) through drama, puppets and song! Check out their website here
Free of Charge!
Each year, KWT creates a variety of themed performances that are unique, creative, and educational. Click here to see their current schedule of performances.
This is all for FREE, people!
Of course, like everything, there are some special requirements to consider. A minimum audience of 100 is suggested for schools, but their brochure states that they can accommodate smaller all-school performances. KWT requires about one hour before and after their performance to setup and teardown the staging area. For their performance, they require a space at least 18 x 20 feet, but can perform outdoors if there is overhead covering and pavement. While KWT is a contained performance group and bring all of their materials, they must have a working electrical outlet. Performances are about 30-45 minutes long, which also included a Q&A session at the end.
Most of our assemblies and performances occur at our school in the gymnasium and it works really well for KWT as well!
My PTG is seriously so impressed with this group. I don’t know how many years we have been lucky enough to benefit from KWT, but I know it has been at least a year or two. I recall my daughter coming home from school last year talking all about the program she saw, Bullies and Bonobos. It made a lasting impression, for sure.
This year we were interested to know if we could have KWT come to our school more than once. We knew a few themes would work really well with some of our age groups more than others. When I contacted the coordinator to find out, I was super excited to learn that we were able to have KWT come to our school two times and perform two separate programs!
KWT will be visiting our school very soon and I am so excited to hear all about it!

I know that KWT is only available to a small geographical area, but there are likely other similar programs out there and I would be more than happy to share them with you here! If you know about other programs like Kohl’s Wild Theater, please let me know!
If you happen to check out KWT after reading this post, I’d love to hear about how the students at your school enjoyed their KWT performance.
I also want to take this time to thank Kohl’s Wild Theater for providing this amazing opportunity for our students and schools! What a generous organization!
Thanks for visiting!
